Nothing says “summer” like a sun-kissed glow. Except for the glaring fact that sun damage can lead to premature aging and be detrimental to your health. This is when I start to have flashbacks of being smeared down with sunscreen as a kid anytime I would leave the house.
But in all honesty, that is the best thing you can do for your skin. Sunscreen has become the #1 product that I recommend in ANY skin care routine. No one wants early wrinkles and especially not the nasty C word.
This is exactly why I turned to sunless tanners. Now, let me tell you, this has been a LONG trial and error process. Since I work on a budget, I tend to stay away from getting spray-tans at salons. My favorite self-tanner product that I’ve been hooked on lately is Tanologist Face and Body Drops.
This a fairly new product to shelves and the idea was very intriguing. The concept is unlike anything I’ve tried. You add drops of the tanning serum to the lotion you are already using. The product itself is a clear solution and gives a subtle and gradual tan and glow at the same time. I loved that I could add it to my body lotion for all over but also my face lotion for a dewy glow on my face.
This specific brand comes in three different shades: light, medium, and dark. Personally, I use the medium shade but it’s all up to you and what you prefer. You also have the ability to control the development of color by adding as little or as much of the serum you’d like for each application. I’d say I add anywhere from 3 drops for my face, to an entire dropper full for all over the rest of my body.
The only drawbacks I’ve run into with this product…you better wash your hands after applying it. I mean really wash your hands. Soap, water and make sure to scrub around your fingernails. I know, it sounds crazy, but I was getting, what looked like dirty grime, around my cuticles and could not think how it got there. Once it dawned on me that it could be the tanner, I realized that I needed to start thoroughly scrubbing my nail beds after tanning. Just like that, no more dirty nails!
